Many shallow-minded ones think that agriculture is just about tillage of soil, as they say "agrikutyur? hmp, magbubungkal lang ng lupa 'yang mga yan!". That praise were one of the worst for us future agriculturists. They even belittle the ones engaged on farming without knowing what their capable of doing, therefore prejudicing just like that. It's been going repeatedly from long time ago until now. From that note, we can safely say that they have some points missing, or too many truths missing rather.
Indeed, agriculture involves tillage of soil, but in the deeper perspective, there's a lot more to be known. Agriculture also involves raising animals, and growing of crops, as well as the corresponding researches responsible for the developments and innovations related to it. Speaking of the researches, agriculture had been the center of intensive researches for some time and probably until now. It's not outcasted by other fields like medicine, engineering, and technology.
Also, in terms of utility, agriculture has a very wide array of ways to give satisfaction to the needs and satiation of wants of human beings. Producing improved crops and animals, as well as their products, fills the abysmal need of human beings to food. It also allows many people to have decent jobs, and thus improving their lives. All of these and a lot more were undeniable benefits derived from agriculture.
